Favorite Send to FastDrawOakland has made a commitment this season to throwing the ball in to the post to one of the best centers in the league #42 Corey Petros. Their offense has evolved from a dribble drive offense with moments of the Dick Bennett “Movers & Blockers” offense which we actually ran a bit during my time at Portland. Valparaiso has always doubled big to big on post entries so Oakland must have added a play to their arsenal before playing this game. The irony of it is they took the play from Valpo who has been running the overload play for years and added one wrinkle. With the guards cleaning out it opens up the over top lob pass for the 5 if they front. With the flare screen for the 1 it puts the PG as the only back side help and he is guarding the flare cut. When the ball goes into #42 Petros the 4 man #4 Hayes dives right to the rim as his man doubles the center. The only person on that side of the floor available to help is the point guard who is no match-up for a 6’8 power forward. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawI got this from Illinois in the Maui finals. Starts off as an isolation set in the 1-4 set and ends with either a 3 or a lob. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis was a half court set Michigan State ran in the Big Ten Conference Championship game. The first option was for Travis Trice coming off a down screen. Michigan State will then set a back screen for their point guard, looking for a lob at the rim. The ball will then be passed into the post (Adreian Payne). Michigan State will then set a cross screen for Gary Harris, who will curl looking to receive a pass going to the rim. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawHere's a set we have gotten a lot of mileage out of and run for different players, from different positions where we feel we have advantages and on both sides of the floor. Furthermore, it can get 3 great looks at any point in the game based on what you are looking for with regards to situation and score. Can also adapt slightly and run as a Zipper Set SLOB and net the same looks. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawWith 18.3 seconds left in the 2nd quarter of the Miami Heat - San Antonio Spurs game on 1/26/14, Heat coach Eric Spoelstra drew up this great SLOB play to get Ray Allen a wide open 3 pointer that hit to put the Heat up 8 at halftime. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDown 3 to the Knicks with 37 seconds left, Coach Pop drew this slob play up to get the hot hand, Belinelli, a great look at a 3 to tie the game. Although the concept of the play is great, screening a man into a screen, the Spurs really executed, setting up their cuts and low wide physical screens. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTuesday night in their nail biting loss to South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast ran this half-court set for a post hi-low isolation. After spending many years at Kansas under Bill Self, it is no surprise that FGCU coach Joe Dooley frequents hi-low actions. If 3 can set a solid screen the goal is for 5 to try and catch in the middle of the paint for a quick score. However, if X5 fights over top of the screen of X3 and X5 switch, 5 is to seal his man on the top side for a lob pass over the top for a finish. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is the opening play run by the UCLA Bruins in their match-up against Nevada the ther night. Steve Alford is in his first season at the head of the storied UCLA program. Alford left New Mexico where he built a winning program and made the Lobos a yearly team for discussion come NCAA Tourmament time. This play is a well designed action run out of Transition as the flashing post takes away thte weak side help on the backdoor action which opens the play. The stagger screen is set-up by the down screen at the elbow for the PG. With a good screening action, the Bruins were able to get an open look at the three right at the outset of the game. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen playing good defensive teams, it can require simultaneous actions to occupy the help and open up more scoring opportunities. The play below gives you several scoring plays to counter any defensive rotations. 1. Screening 4 into the pick & roll with 2 can cause X4 to be late and give 2 a mid-range jumper. 2. If X4 and X2 to caught guarding 2, 4 will be open on the pop/roll as the rest of the help defense is occupied in the weak side screening action. 3. If the defense falls sleep or focuses more on the side pick & roll 3 may be open for the lob. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play comes from Ole Miss and Andy Kennedy from several years ago. The 1st option is for 3 to look at 1 for the lob. As 3 then uses the pick & roll he can attack the rim, hit 5 posting up, or throw back to 1 coming off a stagger from 5 and 4. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWichita State ran this action which ended with a pick & roll/replace in their Final Four matchup versus Louisville. As 1 came off the pick aggressively, the exchange by 4 and 5 allowed for an opportunity for 5 to seal his man for a lob over top. To see EVERY play Wichita State ran in the 2013 Final Four you can do so in my eBook Championship Execution! See More
